In January (I know. Shocker haha), I set two goals for myself. Goal 1: Feel like an athlete again. Goal 2: Chill the f*&$ out.
On Goal 1: Last year, I turned 40 and started to feel like an overweight slug with bad knees. It was NOT working for me. So, I bought a fitness journal to schedule and track my workouts. And, most importantly, I downloaded this amazing app called Aaptiv. This is not a paid advertisement. This app has changed my life. I'm a Gemini. I get bored with doing the same shit every day. I can't. What I love about Aaptiv is that I can choose something new every day. They have hundreds of workouts between 5 minutes and an hour to choose from. They're always adding new workouts. It's like having a trainer in your ear while you're at the gym, and the cost is minimal (I think when I signed up, it was $8 a month). Long story short, I can't recommend this app highly enough. While I don't yet feel back to my top form, I'm getting there, largely thanks to this app. (PS Sultan is my favorite trainer;)).
On Goal 2: I'm going to be totally honest here. Over the last two years, for a variety of different reasons, good and bad, stress has wreaked havoc on my health. I gained about 30 pounds; my anxiety was through the roof. It was All. Bad. I'm working to manage it, and lately things are so much better. I do yoga every day. I started a bullet journal, which helps tremendously (more on that in another post). But I also have been using this great free app called Insight Timer that I read about in a magazine. It's filled with THOUSANDS of guided meditations: ones to help you fall asleep, ones to help you focus at work, ones to help you hone your creativity. Again, I highly recommend it!! Download today:).
That's all for now, folks. I'm supposed to be working. Let me know if you check either of them out. If you're a friend of mine, I can even send you a guest pass for Aaptiv to give it a try. Have a great week!! ~Jess
